2016 International Congress

The purpose of the Congress is to develop a global botanical art community to share ideas and develop ways in which our work can impact the world. Representatives from the following countries made presentations at the 2016 Congress: Australia Brazil France Ireland Japan The Netherlands South Korea Thailand The United Kingdom The United States of America It is our hope that this Congress will continue to meet every third year in conjunction with ASBA's Annual Meeting and Conference and the Hunt Institute for Botanical Documentation’s International Exhibitions.

2019 INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS

ASBA convened the 2nd International Congress of Botanical Art on Sunday, October 20, 2019 following ASBA's Annual Meeting and Conference in Pittsburgh. 


Goals of the Congress were to amplify the impact of Botanical Art Worldwide, to reflect upon the project's successes, challenges and surprises, and share and learn from each country's unique experience. Additional goals were to continue to foster collaboration among botanical art societies around the world, to promote the continued focus on native plants and plant diversity worldwide, establish May 18th as an annual Worldwide Day of Botanical Art and consider the organization of simultaneous exhibitions again in the future.

The Congress consisted of morning, afternoon and evening sessions with presentations by representatives of countries who participated in 2016 about their countries' exhibitions and events. Sir Peter Crane, President, Oak Spring Garden Foundation, gave the evening's keynote address.
