I am a full-time Naturalist for Baltimore City Recreation and Parks at Cylburn Arboretum and the Rawlings Conservatory. In this capacity, I lead guided tours of the historic Cylburn Mansion and the Rawlings Conservatory, and Botanical Watercolor workshops. I also organize and curate annual art exhibits at Cylburn and at the Conservatory.
Before that, I was a DNR Park Ranger at Hart-Miller Island State Park, Naturalist at Seattle's Carkeek Park and Mercer-Slough Nature Center, Biology teacher, Art Activities Counselor at People Encouraging People, and Botanical Art, Science, and English teacher in Mexico. I lived in Michoacan, Mexico, for 6 months a year for about 6 years, hiking, teaching, and painting flowers.
My preferred medium is watercolor on hot press paper.
I have 4 children, 6 grandchildren, 2 dogs, 1 rats, and fish. I race on a sailing team and am a member of the Downtown Sailing Center in Baltimore. I like writing in my journal, bicycling, hiking, camping, sailing, horse-back-riding, and Burning Man.
