How to Use Your iPhone for Botanical Reference with Yoni Mayeri
Discover how to photograph botanical subjects and create high-quality images using the powerful camera you already carry with you. Smartphones are essential tools for capturing art and reference images. In this workshop, we’ll focus on using your iPhone’s camera and Photos apps to enhance sharpness, tonal range, and detail. You’ll learn how to adjust settings for consistent results and explore editing techniques to improve your images directly on your device. All registrants will receive a downloadable handout with tips, resources, and practical reference materials.
* An iPhone 11 or newer is recommended, but all iPhone models are welcome.
About Yoni Mayeri
Yoni Mayeri is a photographer, educator, and visual innovator whose career spans more than four decades. Her work has earned wide recognition, appearing in prestigious publications and finding a home in private collections, galleries, and museums. An early and passionate adopter of the iPhone as a creative tool, Mayeri is recognized as a pioneer in the field of iPhoneography. She has been teaching and championing mobile photography since its earliest days, embracing its immediacy, accessibility, and expressive potential. Her widely acclaimed iPhoneography courses are offered to the public through Stanford Continuing Studies each quarter, UC Berkeley’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute each semester, and regularly at UC Berkeley’s Botanical Garden.
