ASBA Botanical Art Techniques in Action with Kelly Leahy Radding
About this event
Botanical Art Techniques in Action
ASBA introduces the second round of four episodes in a new series of live-action tutorials based on Botanical Art Techniques, A Comprehensive Guide. Tutors demonstrate their topics from the book with new subjects and expand on those lessons. The one-hour sessions allow 45 minutes of demonstration, and 15 minutes for a Q & A. Sessions can be viewed live or on demand for the week following live airing.
Egg Tempera Techniques with Kelly Leahy Radding
For centuries, artists have created luminous paintings using the simplest of ingredients: egg yolk, water and powdered pigments. Kelly Leahy Radding will make the egg yolk and water medium and combine it with dry pigments to create properly tempered paint. She will demonstrate the stages of creating an egg tempera painting beginning with transferring a drawing and using paper masks and/or frisket. Using sponges and brushes, she will show how to paint the many layers of white or tinted scumbles and thin glazes of warm and cool colors that ultimately achieve a glowing egg tempera painting.
