Gwen Koths earned her BFA with a double major in painting and printmaking from Cornell University and has since exhibited in more than 85 solo and group shows. Her award winning work has been shown in such venues as the U.S. National Arboretum, Longwood Gardens (in the ASBA International Centennial Orchid Show), Woodmere Art Museum, the Athenaeum Museum of Virginia, the Philadelphia Flower Show and the Morris Arboretum of the University of Pennsylvania.
With broad formal education in painting, Gwen’s art is technically varied using many different mediums: watercolor, pastels, silverpoint, graphite dust and water- miscible oils. Soon after graduation she established her independent art studio, the Stone Turret Studio, where she offers lessons to advanced students in all art mediums. An art instructor for nearly 30 years, Gwen teaches botanical watercolor workshops for the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and has demonstrated botanical watercolor painting for the Philadelphia Flower Show. She is also a teacher and juror for art centers in the NY/Philadelphia region.
A member of the Philadelphia Society of Botanical Artists, American Society of Botanical Artists, Guild of Natural Science Illustrators, American Watercolor Society, Pennsylvania Watercolor Society, and the Artists Cultural Exchange, Gwen’s paintings are included in private and public collections worldwide.
