Yara Anderson grew up in The Netherlands. She graduated from the Rijks Universiteit Groningen with a degree in Pharmacy, specializing in medicinal plants. This led to a 6-month research project in India and Nepal. After moving to the USA, she started working as a museum fabrication artist, building botanically accurate plant, tree and insect models. In 2006 she began studying botanical art at the Minnesota School of Botanical Art.
Yara has shown her work at The Gallery at Filoli, ASBA & New York Horticultural Society, ASBA chapter shows in Minnesota and Wisconsin, and a three-person show at the Groveland Gallery in Minneapolis, MN. Her work is in the permanent collection of the Hunt Institute.
